Objectives

The purpose of this course is students learning on Oral Surgery and Implantology. Both are complex disciplines, which require study and a great deal of dedication, along many years, a whole life`s work in order to master the broad contents of these subjects. The first year will be studied Oral Surgery (60 ECTS credits). In the second year, prior to having acquired the necessary basic knowledge on this subject, the student will be introduced into basics of implantology (60 ECTS credits). In the third year, already having the basic surgical and implantological knowledge, more advanced specific subjects will be taught (50 ECTS credits), and a Master’s Dissertation will be presented (10 ECTS credits).

This Master’s Degree includes a comprehensive scientific program, taught by an extensive and selected teaching staff of about 100 experts in the different topics, recognized leaders in their field, among them 12 Full Professors, 16 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professors or Assistants and numerous Teaching Assistants.

Job opportunities for professional dentists, specialized in oral surgery and implantology, are focused mainly on clinical care. This professional profile is in great demand in the dental sector, as it is required in virtually all dental clinics. Given the growing vast information in dentistry, it is impossible for a single professional to cover all areas of knowledge.

Methodology

· The education teaching shall be conducted through the platform of the University of Valencia, available to student at any time, from a fixed or portable device internet connected.

· The theoretical lessons shall be taught as clinical presentations or teaching videos, counting with abundant and selected clinical iconography and diagnostic images. The PDF format texts will be available to make easier the learning process.

· The student will manage actual clinical cases, introduced by experts, in which he/she must prepare the medical history, perform the clinical and differential diagnosis, and propose and discuss the treatment.

· Practical seminars will be supported through the use of phantom-models that reproduce the different pathologies and guide the student in the execution of the various surgical procedures. The student will be provided with the phantom-model collection to directly perform the practice in order to improve the learning process.

· There is a research module, in which the student will be guided and tutored for the preparation and presentation of their Master’s Dissertation at end of the course.

· Extracurricular clinical practices (elective for students) will be scheduled with actual patients, in internship centers that collaborate with the Universitat de València. Up to 900 hours each academic year and are organized by each affiliated center.

· After passing relevant examinations, the student will qualified from the Master’s Degree in Oral Surgery and Implantology at the Universitat de València.
